About Leaderz
Leaderz is a turn-based strategy game for
up to eight players enjoying the game in front
of the same computer. The players use simple
controls to develop their countries and/or
to eliminate the opposing human or computer-controlled
players in a ro-sham-bo (rcok-paper-scissors)
style game.
Leaderz is intended for any audience, from
the starter to the hardcore gamer, with only
one condition: players must be in the mood
to be entertained. Yes, you heard right: we
want you to have fun, and we've built this
game specifically for this purpose. Enjoy!
1.
The Story
The world is in deep trouble: the continents
are crowded and people are beginning to lose
hope of finding someone capable to lead them
to the stars. Luckily, great minds have conceived
Leaderz, the world's most difficult strategic
contest of intelligence and ability.
You are to prove yourself the best Leader,
competing against other human contestants
as well as against the best AI ever conceived
by the world's scientists, called the Final
Opponents. You are to prove not only that
you can defeat your enemies, but also that
you can keep your country happy and robust
while doing it.
In this battle of wit and cunning, are you
ready to prove yourself worthy and gain a
place in history?
2.
The Game Goals
You have to win. How? By defeating your opponents,
the rest of the players in the game. Winning
is not only about kicking them out of the
map, but also about having a prosperous country,
a good economy, happy population and their
trust. Don't hurry into wars, don't forget
about your reputation and build up a wealthy
country.
3.
Playing a Single Battle
By playing single battles you will get familiar
to the game rules and objectives, you will
get some practice and you will get to develop
some winning strategies. Do not forget that
your ultimate goal is to win the tournament
and prove the world that you are the worthiest
leader.
3.1.
Starting a New Battle
Click the 'New Battle' button to enter the
game. Now, from the configuration screen,
you may choose some settings for your next
battle. Pay attention on the difficulty level
- set it according to your experience and
courage. Then, do not forget that you are
a leader, so be sure you set the proper name
to be written in the history books. Third,
take a close look on the available maps: you
have to choose one, which becomes the scene
of your next fight. Finally, as each map has
a number of 3 to 8 countries to accustom you
and your opponents, you have to choose the
country that you are going to lead.
Now, if you want to play against other
human-players, you have to go into the 'Multiplayer
Game' and set the details for your opponents.
Whenever you have doubts on the future
relevance of the choices you made, just
click on the 'Info' buttons on the screen. You
will get brief and meaningful answers to
your questions.
Keep an eye on the strategies that the
computer-aided players will use against
you. They have various tactics, and getting
used to that might be crucial for the tournaments
to come.
3.2.
Quick Play Experience
Just play! Have fun by trying all the orders
you have, try to get the info from the newspaper,
get a grip on the statistics style and ...
be a leader! Check the moves the other players
make, go to the battle field, improve your
economics, use propaganda and ... win!
3.3.
Winning a Single Battle
Just before you kick every other player out
of the world map, remember that you must win
with style. Style of play is all that matters:
you can lose while still being the only player
left on the map. That's right! By attacking
a defenseless country, you are killing population
instead of soldiers. By killing your own people
in numerous battles, you will lose population
and you will also lose their trust. By not
improving your economy, you will not be able
to offer your people a good life, and they
will desert you. Long story short, all you
do has to show careful thinking and a leader's
spirit.
4.
Playing a New Tournament
If you are ready, go for it! The tournament
is the ultimate challenge for a true leader.
The rest of the world will continuously try
to defeat you, but you can prove that you
deserve to be the one and only Leader the
world needs for a better future.
4.1.
Starting a New Tournament
Click the 'New Tournament' button and get
ready. Read carefully the story while entering
the winning mood. Select the map, the opponents
- or let the faith decide for you - and go,
battle by battle, towards your final goal:
defeat the Final Opponents.
4.2.
Quick Play Experience
Every battle is a new battle. Battle by battle,
you have to defeat various opponents. Their
strength increases with time, your reputation
and skills as well. Even if you lose some
battles, you can still win the tournament.
Of course, you have to have enough loyal citizens
to go further after a lost battle. Just keep
in mind that the way you win is important,
and second place is not an option!
4.3.
Winning the Tournament
For winning the tournament, you must fight
15 battles, in various conditions, against
many opponents from all over the world. The
Ultimate Challenge is the final battle, against
the best computer-aided players. They will
be strong and ready to win. But you should
be too!
5.
Countinuing a Tournament
You may choose to take a break in the middle
of the tournament, as it gets more and more
difficult. Of course, you will get back to
it as soon as you are again ready! All you
have to do is click the 'Continue Tournament'
to continue the battles for the world supremacy.
After you click on 'Continue Tournament',
you get to play from were you left: first
check the results of the very last battle
you had, just as a reminder of your current
status, and then go on towards the final
battle.
Remember! Isn't not over till it's over!
You may take a break, but go back to finish
what you have started! After all, the whole
world is counting on you...
6.
A Few Playing Tips
- You control your country by selecting
and signing orders.
- You only get to give one order each
year, so choose wisely.
- Use the newspaper to find out about
your enemies' most recent orders.
- Use the statistics to analyze your country
and your opponents evolution over the
years.
- Check your country stats every year,
and try to improve the ones that seem
the lowest, when compared to your enemies.
- Try having some troops at all times.
- Try building a strong economy.
- Try having 4 to 6 SDI Bunkers during
the later stages of a battle.
- Do not rush into attacking your opponents
- you might be tagged as a public enemy!
- Try not to nuke early in the game -
this is a clear sign of your 'I will take
over the world' intentions!
